Theatre On Ice
Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. It combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between eight and 20 skaters.
iSTAGE was formed in 2011 by coach Bec Rowe. iStage skaters are aged from 8 to 19 years old and skating ability ranges from Aussie Skate FS1 level through to Novice level skaters. Highlights for iSTAGE so far have included performing at the Winter Festivals at Parramatta Town Hall, Bondi Beach and St Mary's Cathedral, competing in the annual TOI Championship in Canberra, winning First Place in the Fun in Sun, Winter Sun Competition in Brisbane, performing at New Zealand Nationals and being invited to perform at the Penrith TOI Showcase as guests of Sydney Ice Theatre. The team also regularly hold "off ice" days which have included Circus Skills workshops, working with an international dance teacher & choreographer to further develop their dance skills & flexibility and workshops on preparing for performances including theatrical makeup application. iSTAGE have also competed at Erina, Liverpool, Penrith, Canberra, Canterbury, Norwest and achieved 2nd place at the Gwen Peterson Theatre on Ice Trophy in Canberra. iStage's greatest achievements so far are competing at the 3rd Nations Cup in Logrono, Spain in April 2013 and again at the 4th Nations Cup in Paris, France in April 2015. iSTAGE is very excited to hopefully be taking another team to the 5th Nations Cup which will be held in the USA in April 2017.
Synchronized skating is a team sport where members skate to a program which includes a variety of patterns and formations in unison to music. It is an exciting and beautiful sport to watch and a great way to keep fit, make friends and develop fantastic skating skills.
There are divisions for all ages and levels of ability including Aussie Skate, Novice, Junior, Senior, Adult and Open. Team size and elements skated to music are largely determined by the division a team competes within.
One of Australia's original synchronized skating teams - skating in the Adult Division. Their ages vary from thirty years of age upwards and the team practices on Sunday nights. In 2009, the Dominoes were awarded silver medals at State and National Champsionships.
